Sports-Injuries

The exercise that involves practicing some sport can be very beneficial for your health. However, sometimes, an Sport Injury may occur. The intensity of these lesions may vary from minor to very serious. Even some of them may require surgery.

These injuries can be caused by bad habits when playing sports, inappropriate equipment, or only by accident.

Sprain
A Sprain is a tearing of ligaments that connect two bones with your joints. Initial treatment could include rest, ice, compression, and elevation. Most of the Sprains could be treated at home, but severe Sprains could require surgery to repair ripped ligaments.

Knee injury

Knee injury is one of the most common when exercising. Every year more than 5 million people visit the Orthopedist for knee injuries. 

The most common knee problems are:

  • Fracture

  • Runner's knee

  • Tendonitis

  • Ligament Injuries

  • Dislocations

  • Meniscus Tears

Severe Knee Injuries may include damage to the cartilage or cruciate ligaments.

Leg Cramps

Leg Cramps occur when there is pain along the lower front of the leg. It can also found on the foot and ankle. Leg Cramps are common in runners and even more if they run on hard surfaces.

Fractures

The fracture is generated by an excess of effort on the bone. The most common fractures in sports are:

  • Fall fractures

  • Stress fractures (occur in a bone as a result of repetitively exaggerated muscle activity.)

Dislocations

Dislocations occur when somehow the joint bone is pushed out of alignment, that is, it dislocates. Contact sports such as football or some activity such as excessive stretching or falls can also cause dislocations.

 

Dislocation usually requires medical treatment and be treated as an emergency.
