Our body is 70% water and it develops all its functions around it . Lack of water in our body is, literally, lack of health. We share with you 7 practical advices to increase your water consumption.
1.- The best way to know if you lack of water is to check your urine color. When you wake up and in the first few hours, is normal it looks with a strong yellow color, but as the day goes by and you start drinking fluids it should be clearing until it gets almost transparent. If this does not happen and your urine looks yellow all day, you should be drinking more water. Remember, you need to drink at least 1 liter for each 55 lbs., if you weight 110 lbs. you should be drinking 2 liters of water.
2.- Do not wait until you get thirsty to drink water. Thirst is a sign of dehydration, keeping our body in constant hydration not to feel the need of drinking water is the ideal.
3.- If you are not drinking more water because it isn’t handy, start taking a bottle everywhere, it is easy to carry with, and fulfill it every now and then. This will automatically make you drink more water, you will have your bottle at your sight and you will remember your purpose, besides, while you are in the street and feel thirsty you can drink without stopping to buy any.
4.- When you feel thirsty, instead of buying a soda or a sugar based soft drink, drink water. If you set that goal and reduce the soda consumption, you will get to drink much more water in a naily basis.
5.- When exercising or practicing outdoor activities, you should drink more water to regain all the liquids you ware losing while sweating.
6.- if you don´t like to drink water while drinking because you might think it is boring and prefer a flavored drink, a cheap and healthy alternative to give it a fresh touch is to add a slice of lime. This tiny step will make the water flavor to be more pleasant.
7.- Increase your water consumption gradually, if you do this in a sudden way you might feel swollen because your body is not used to it yet.
